Masha: Culture Studies Student
St. Petersburg: Masha, 18, was on her way to a mall to visit her favorite store: H&M. The teenager plans to major in cultural studies at university. H&M seems to have won over the hearts of Russian youth with the Swedish-based company opening stores in malls in most major Russian cities.
Polina: Sociology Student, H&M Worker
MOSCOW: Polina, 19, was standing outside a busy shopping mall recently in Moscow, eating Asian fast food as the last snow of the spring swans fell. Polina said she works at H&M while studying sociology. She said she wants to write scientific pieces about everyday people.
Zhenya: H&M Employee
Zhenya was walking through the crowded Moscow metro around 4pm on a weekday in his 'Bronx' hat and leopard-pattered jacket. He said he was born in the south of Russia and now works at H&M located in a nearby mall. He invited me to visit the store.
