Moscow Portrait: I noticed Milena in the crowded metro earlier in the year due to her very colorful, original style. We met recently to take some photos. Hard of hearing, she has no relatives aside from her father. Thus, her Shar Pei dog is a very important part of her life. In addition to fashion and shopping, she loves taking photos with her friends.

Moscow Portrait: I met this man at the Black Sabbath concert in Moscow this summer. It was the rock group's first performance in Russia since the Perestoika period. This man was at their previous concert held in 1989....working as a policeman guarding the group. He said he enjoyed working the cultural/entertainment events as a policeman in those days...perhaps because he had an artistic element within him...he said he loved to dance and went by the nickname "dancer."

Olga, a manager at a bread producer, was sitting near a park entrance on a late Sunday afternoon in southern Moscow. She said she was knitting clothing for her 2 year-old granddaughter, something Olga said she enjoys doing that in her free time.

Moscow Portrait: I find it fascinating how people have such divergent interests. Yana said she sings opera music, so I asked her what she liked to listen to, expecting to hear something akin to opera. She said her favorite group was German industrial metal band Rammstein.
